Wall-E is a wonderful effort by PIXAR. Filled with moments of bliss, and clearly in the realm of "what can we do," it only falls short in trading some of the story arc for set-piece complexity. Still a top-tier effort, when PIXAR does this, as in Monsters Inc. ('heaven sequence'), some of the poignant storyline is in danger of being overwhlemed by 'the effects'. Wall-E does survive intact however, and is a welcome entry into the Pixar canon.
Project Moonwalk, Project Whitecard's Interactive Simulation of the Apollo Moon Missions has met its stated goal of securing funding for the entire project by Q2 of 2007.
Effective today, the deal has been done, and we are go for launch. Not wanting to steal thunder from the impending national press release due from our Federal, Provincial and Municipal backers, this announcement is brief.
The precise outline of this involves full funding for developers; the securing of a Federal government major fund for national media, the Government of Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Partnership Agreement, and a collective of to-be-named hard working local people, for a duration at least 24 months (!).
Project Whitecard Inc. has been invited to participate in the Banff Liminal Screen Program in March 2007, as part of the 3D interactive museum project, "Northern Lights."
Along with Jason Baerg and Rawl Banton. representing Winnipeg will be Khal Shariff, who will bring his 3D game engine skills to bear on Northern Lights, an aboriginal 3D cultural installation.
This journey is made with the kind assistance of STEM and the Banff New Media Institute.
